Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is the Program For?
A. The program is designed for Next Generation Leaders. These may be people in their 50s and 60s or 20s and 30s. If the older generation is making the critical decisions about the wealth of the family and strategic decisions in the business, then the next generation should attend this seminar. Program is designed both for those who will be leading family businesses and family offices. Particular attention is given to Latin cultures. The program is designed to be both a learning community in the deepest sense and a support network.

Q. What is the difference between this training program and family business consultation?
A. This program is designed as a series of educational seminars that focuses on training leaders of the next generation.  Consultation is designed to help a particular family system prepare for the Succession and Governance process that will be most helpful to them.  Part of the richness of this program comes from sharing with peers in similar learning challenges and solutions.

Q. Is there a lot of lecture and homework?
A. Theory is important, and latest theory will be reviewed.  We know that learning takes place best through discussion, case studies, personal sharing and experiential activities.  Voluntary readings and homework will be given between sessions to help in the assimilation process of learning.  Sessions are carefully designed to balance theoretical understanding with practical learning.

Q. May I skip the Leadership Assessment since I already had a DISC assessment done?
A. Absolutely not!  First each tool provides different data. The one we use has the highest level of scientific research.  The more knowledge you have about yourself as a leader, the more effective leader you will be.  The assessment tool itself is a key ingredient of the program.  Great leadership begins with self awareness, self knowledge and some humility as well.

Q. What Do I Get in the End?
A. You will have more knowledge and skills in how to lead your family well in the future.  Besides a certificate, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself as a family business leader, the culture of your generation and family system as a whole.  You will deepen your understanding of the role of money and wealth in your family’s legacy, and develop ways to lead your generation and your children well.  You will be given tools that will assist you in the development of effective succession and governance processes including boards and family office structures for your family’s business.

Q. Can I take the Program more than once?
A. Yes. This kind of learning is much more like art than science! The more one focuses on understanding these topics personally and in his/her family, the richer and more effective you as a leader will become. Many people find continued participation in these kinds of programs as deeply helpful. What could be more enriching than sharing with others the challenges, failures and success we all bring to our role?
